Hold Forward on any file. A glass ring opens under the pointer: convert, compress, rescale, edit or clean it, saved right beside the original.
This is a pretend Files window. Rest the pointer on a file and the ring opens there. Rest on Convert, Compress, Rescale or Edit for their own ring, then click a petal.
The main ring shows a petal only when it makes sense for everything you selected. Convert, Compress and Rescale open their own ring, and each one has a way back.
Pick several files and Prism offers only the targets all of them can reach. Multi-page documents become one image per page, in a folder.
Five strengths for audio and images. Medium is the profile-picture level: about half the size with no visible change. If a level wouldn't make the file smaller, nothing is saved.
Offered according to the pixel size. Images use Lanczos; video uses the GPU (NVENC) when it's there. 2× stops at 3000 px for images and 1920 px for video, so results stay within 4K.
An ordinary window, so Hyprland tiles it. Drag a box, zoom with Ctrl and scroll, then copy, save in another format, or replace the original after a confirmation.
Location, camera, author and editing history are stripped. Rotation and colour profiles are baked into the pixels first, so the picture doesn't change.

HEIC output appears only if libheif has a HEVC encoder, which Fedora's build doesn't. A multi-frame source going to a still format keeps the first frame, and the notification says so.
Files to convert often come from the internet, so a file can't pull anything else in, phone home, or take the desktop down with it.
LibreOffice and FFmpeg run in a bubblewrap sandbox. They see only the file being converted, read-only, and the job's temp folder.
Each conversion runs in its own process capped at 3 GB of memory, and ImageMagick is locked to the formats Prism handles.
Results are saved next to the original and numbered instead of overwriting. A failed conversion leaves nothing behind. Only the crop tool's Replace changes a file, after you confirm.
A document may embed only images in its own folder. Anything pointing at ~/.ssh, ../.. or a URL is dropped, keeping its alt text.
Not just Clean: every conversion goes through the same scrubber. If a file can't be scrubbed, the conversion fails rather than save it.
Run it as yourself, not root, and again any time to update. It checks what Prism needs first, and if anything is missing it stops and gives you one dnf command to install it.
Fetches Prism, sets up the ring, the Files script, the shortcut and Hyprland, then cleans up after itself.

No. The daemon asks the kernel for the binding's keys only, so typing and mouse movement never reach it. It needs read access to /dev/input (for example the input group); without it, only Ctrl+Alt+C works.
No. Results go next to the original and are numbered instead of overwriting. Only the crop tool's Replace changes a file, after an inline confirmation, and it refuses if the file changed on disk since it was opened.
Prism is built for Fedora with Hyprland 0.56+ and Nautilus. Other setups aren't supported.
HEIC output needs libheif with a HEVC encoder, and Fedora's build doesn't include one. HEIC files can still be read and converted to other formats.
